Trans Pride Week: Celebration and Campaign for Change
Trans Pride is a mixture of celebration and campaigning for change until trans rights are fully recognised. We stand in solidarity in calling for these rights, including legal gender recognition for non-binary people, a respectful self-declaration process and an end to the spousal veto.
On the celebration side, be prepared for a complete outpouring of creativity and community spirit. Take a look at the events below and please give them your support.
Calling all gamers - or anyone who wants to hang out and meet TPB folk at a cool gaming cafe! Come along to C:\ Side Quest, 11 Lower Promenade, Madiera Drive, Brighton, BN2 1ET from 6pm on Friday 20th July. Take your pick of plenty of board games, or hang out on one of the consoles or arcade machines. Look out for the TPB volunteers or ask at the bar for the TPB reservation.
If the big screen's more your thing, an alternative is to meet at the Duke of York's Picturehouse from 6pm on Friday 20th July. There will be a specially curated showing in partnership with Eyes Wide Open. Check out the full details here.
This is the main event, held on Saturday 21st July. There's still time to volunteer to be a steward, and everyone is welcome to join the march. It sets off from the Marlborough pub at midday, following a gentle 1.3-mile route and ending in Brunswick Square Gardens, where there will be information booths, food stalls, speakers and musicians. Whether you march in solidarity or show your support as a spectator, let's make sure the trans community know they're welcome in our city.
Under the Skin
This is the official exhibition for Trans Pride, held at Pop-Up Brighton, 76-81 Kings Road Arches, Brighton, BN1 2FN. The show is a free platform for trans and non-binary artists to display their work throughout Trans Pride, curated by trans artist and life model Jared Cobain. It runs daily until this Sunday 22nd July.
If you're not able to make any of the events in person, please consider chipping in to help cover the costs. Every bit of support helps!
