Lib Dems oppose Royal Mail Vale Avenue Development

It is deeply disappointing that yesterday Brighton and Hove City Council voted to give permission to Royal Mail to build a new distribution centre in Brighton.  The proposed Royal Mail building feels like a disaster waiting to happen. Patcham is a heritage asset on the edge of Brighton that should be protected and nurtured for future generations. It is astonishing this planning application to build such a large Royal Mail site has been accepted.

There are many reasons to object to this development.  The building of this site will cause contamination of the water supply from the run off into the aquifer, which feeds directly into the city supply.   It will also increase the risk of flooding to an area which already struggles with floods every winter, forcing school children  to walk through raw sewage.

This will become the sad reality that thousands in Patcham will endure if this construction is allowed to go ahead. Brighton and Hove Liberal Democrats will continue to oppose this development.
