Huge Support for People's Vote
Thank you to everyone who supported the People's Vote march in London on Saturday!
A crowd of pro-EU residents from all parties and none met at Brighton station to travel together to the march, including Labour MP Peter Kyle and Green MP Caroline Lucas, reflecting the emerging cross-party consensus of the need for a vote on the final Brexit deal.
Once in London, Brighton & Hove Lib Dems joined the huge contingent of Lib Dems at St James' Square, with speeches from Catherine Bearder MEP and party leader Vince Cable MP. We could tell from the fact we weren't able to move off straight away that the turnout in Pall Mall was huge!
The march was lively and good-natured, followed by speeches from Andy Parsons, Chuka Umunna, Gina Miller, Vince Cable, Caroline Lucas and others in an absolutely packed Parliament Square. Estimates have put the number of attendees at over 100,000.
With recent events in the House of Commons meaning it looks unlikely that Parliament will get a meaningful vote on the Brexit deal, it's now more important than ever to give the people the final say.
