Rottingdean & West Saltdean Ward stretches from Rottingdean through to Saltdean. It is one of the most magnificent wards for views of the countryside and the sea. It counts amongst its former residents one of the UK's most famous writers, Rudyard Kipling, whose house sits close to the renown Pond in the village of Rottingdean. Saltdean Lido is an iconic masterpiece of architecture in the Art Deco style and was listed as Grade II* status by English Heritage as being of great historical interest. The village of Ovingdean nestles in the Ovingdean valley and can be approached from the coastal road by passing St. Dunstan's, described by Historical England as a 'Tour de Force of Modernism Architecture. To live in this ward is to be rich in the history of, not just Brighton but also the United Kingdom.
